Who I am
Hi, I’m Veerle! I have a curious mind and have many interests. In my free time, I climb, dance, play violin, and love going on bike rides.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and a master’s in Journalism and New Media.
Over the years, I’ve become increasingly technical and have developed various skills:

- designing chatbot dialogues

- programming (Python)
As a result, I have held a variety of positions:

What I do
Currently, I work as a Data Scientist at Odido. In this role, I work on AI applications with the goal of deploying them effectively, with high quality, and in a responsible manner, for example to support customer service representatives.
In my work, I analyze the output and quality of AI systems, improve existing functionalities, and develop new features. In doing so, I combine data analysis, programming, and extensive testing.
AI projects I have worked on include:
- Improving the classification of the external chatbot Izzi
- Creating summaries of phone conversations
- Developing call reason categories and labeling conversations
- Building and improving the internal RAG chatbot Nova
What I write about
With my background in Journalism, I spent a long time searching for a topic I was passionate about writing on. Now I’ve found it! On my website, I share articles about music, language and AI. Simply because I enjoy it.
I also get a lot of pleasure from building the pages for these articles. That way, I combine my love for language and technology.
